Pace of Play:

(Yes, it’s our “Mantra” this year!)

Be the most popular player on the course!  Be courteous to those behind you.

Some ideas and goals: Stay out of the woods – it’s for Squirrels, Ticks, and Turkeys.  Please spend no more than 3 minutes “hunting” your ball, and please try not to go hunting on every hole / ball.  If you’re worried a particular tee box or shot location will have a risk of going into the forest, use a “practice” ball so you won’t feel bad about losing it. Then just set your next ball down and fire away.

We encourage "Ready Golf", which means 'playing out of turn in stroke play, to save time'.

Maximum strokes per hole guideline:
Scoring without GHIN or just establishing GHIN, use:
Par + 5 per hole
Pickup your ball following maximum strokes: Par 3 + 5 = 8 stokes, Par 4 + 5 = 9 strokes and Par 5 +5 = 10 strokes

Don’t miss the post-game gatherings in the Clubhouse! Always a highlight as we watch the Sunset over the horizon…

TO GHIN OR NOT TO GHIN??  That is the question.  (Is it? No really? But seriously…)

As a Canyonette, USGA GHIN / WA Golf membership is optional.  However, for those interested, It’s the way players of varying abilities can compete with one another on equal basis, whether you are involved in serious competition or casual play.  Annual fee ($39) includes GHIN mobile app, Washington Golf Pass, Subscription to Pacific Northwest Golfer magazine & much more.

A bit about our revered Indian Canyon Course:
Indian Canyon was designed in 1930 by H. Chandler Egan and has been chosen by Golf Digest many times as one of the top 25 public courses in the United States. The Canyon sits atop the west entrance to Spokane, overlooking the city. Indian Canyon requires accuracy from the tee to the green. The site of many major tournaments, Indian Canyon has hosted the U.S.G.A. three times; the United States Amateur Public Links Championship in 1941 and 1984; and the United States Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in 1989. Built on a canyon wall with a vertical drop of 240 feet amid many towering pines, the Canyon offers a very diverse and unique playing environment. It is well bunkered and has undulating greens which require a deft touch if par of 71 is to be achieved over the hilly 6,255 yards.
