It’s April 15, 1900, Easter Sunday, and Paris is the center of the world’s attention as millions of visitors arrive for the opening of the International Exposition this weekend.

Amongst them is an elite but diverse group of individuals staying at the Hotel Paradiso.  As they gather for dinner, however, the peace of the hotel is rocked by an explosion.  Billy Bonka, the foremost chocolate manufacturer in America, is found dead in his room, having apparently been killed by an explosive Easter Egg.  Suspicion falls on the people around that have gathered in the club house.

One – or more- of you is the murderer.  Your task is to discover who the killer is.  Fortunately, the famous amateur, Hercule McClue, is on hand to assist your investigations.

SUSPECTS:

Chocolate Bertrand – The greatest legend of the Belgian chocolate industry, you are known as much for your ruthless business practices as for your suave bonhomie.  Costume suggestion:  Evening suite, elegant and understated.

Marchioness Duchamp – You are an internationally notorious artist whose work has scandalized two continents, and whose private life has done much the same.  Costume suggestion:  Dress in free flowing slightly exotic clothes in rich colors with silver jewelry and a silk scarf.

Maria Von Schapps – You are a young businesswoman who has just taken over as head of a long-established Swiss chocolate firm. Costume suggestion:  A formal evening dress, suggesting quiet sophistication.

Mike Bison – The rising star of American boxing, you’re in Paris for the Olympic Games, where you’re sure that you’ll win a gold medal.  Costume suggestion:  Jeans, and a white vest, with a plaid shirt worn open on top.  A temporary tattoo or two would be useful, as would a black eye.

Dame Barbara Carthorse – You are the most celebrated beauty in England, as well as a hugely popular romantic novelist.  Costume suggestion:  A very grand evening dress, complete with spectacular jewelry and a tiara.  Nothing should be understated.

Dr. Doris Johnson – An amateur archaeologist specializing in the Aztec culture, you are regarded as being eccentric, even in a field of eccentrics.  Costume suggestion:  A long velvet cloak and floppy hat with feathers on it.  Reading glasses on a chain around your neck would be good – a pince-nez or monocle even better.

Dr. Sigmund Fraud – The controversial psychologist whose theories have won you a small band of devoted disciples and the hatred of conventional society.  Costume suggestion:  Brown, three-piece suite with a bow tie.  A beard would add considerably to the image, and a cigar would also help.

Little Fitz – You are a vaudevillian star of the Music Halls of Europe, where your ventriloquist act (with your dummy, Ziggy) has proven very popular. Costume suggestion:  A very loud check suite, preferably in brown, with a novelty bow tie.  It is vital you have dummy with you.  This can be anything from a genuine ventriloquist’s dummy to a glove puppet.  Even a sock with suitable adornments would do.
